Black Belt Testing
Training The amount of time spent at any one rank is less important than the quality of training at that rank. The guidelines given are
suggestions, and will vary for each individual according to their circumstances. Many students choose to take more time than those shown here.
Candidates for Dan testing should plan to spend at least six months prior to the test focusing on Tae Kwon Do.
The average student, who attends class regularly and makes a point of attending advanced classes and school events, can expect to spend at least one year at black stripe, two years at first degree and three years at second degree. This is assuming that good progress is made in technique, leadership in the school, and teaching skills. Take a look in the library for additional perspectives on testing.
Application An application and essay should be submitted at least two full weeks before the scheduled test date.
Please contact your instructor for an application.
